To answer that I’ll just give a brief and rough description of a known type of leader - which is not the absolute or the very correct one - this leader is the person who knows the potentials of his fellow mates and can help them achieve that and maybe even surpass them, and also in the process, he develops himself.
So what is it that scares people from that role?
I'll talk about those who fully understand what is a leader.
They may be scared of being wrong, or not up to the job.
Maybe because they don’t know how to.
Maybe because they don't want to,
Most of the mentioned reasons would lead to their fear of accidentally misguiding or misleading their mates into the wrong directions, and end up screwing a part of their lives,
Maybe they are afraid of being shut down from their peers,
Or most critical is that they have no vision for themselves, so they consequently fail to form a vision to others
How to over come all that?
In my opinion it comes by guidance, having a role model
By practice, practicing working with teams, and increasing one's communication skills,and knowledge.
But most importantly is knowing that they will make mistakes, some will be unnoticeable and others will be huge, but this is all a part of being human, human makes mistakes, they should know the reason, but never use it as an excuse to give up, or mess up.
